HomeNet Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
In short
HomeNet has no account, no ads, no analytics and no servers of its own. The developer does not collect, receive or have access to any of your data.
What HomeNet stores
- Your sites, devices, plans, floor plans, photos, notes and settings are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud and leave “Sync with iCloud” on, they are also stored in your own private iCloud (CloudKit) database so they stay in sync across your devices. Only you can access that database; the developer cannot.
- Account and Wi-Fi passwords you save are stored in the Apple Keychain on your device, optionally behind Face ID or Touch ID, and sync only through iCloud Keychain if you have turned it on. They are never written to the database, backups, exports, logs, Spotlight or widgets.
- Files such as .homenet archives, CSV spreadsheets and PDF handbooks are created only when you ask for them and are saved or shared where you choose.
What HomeNet connects to
- HomeNet uses the network only when you use a feature, and only to devices on your local network or targets you type in: scanning, ping, traceroute, port scan, web check, Wake on LAN, read-only SNMP, Bonjour browsing and read-only identification of smart-home devices. None of this information is sent to the developer.
- If you run DNS Speed Test, HomeNet sends ordinary DNS queries for six well-known domain names to 12 public DNS services (Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, OpenDNS, AliDNS, DNSPod, 114DNS, Baidu and CNNIC) and to the DNS servers your network already uses. Like any DNS query, these reveal your IP address to the resolver.
Permissions
- Local Network
- Finds and tests devices on your network. Only used when you scan, ping or probe.
- Location
- The system treats Wi-Fi names as location data, so it is needed to show Wi-Fi names and signal. Your location is never read, saved or sent anywhere.
- Bluetooth
- Lists nearby Bluetooth devices while the Bluetooth tool is running. It never connects to or pairs with them.
- Camera
- Takes photos of devices, cables and labels. Photos stay in your HomeNet data.
- Face ID / Touch ID
- Optionally locks your saved accounts and passwords.
- iCloud
- Syncs your sites, devices and plans through your own iCloud. Passwords stay in the Keychain.
- Notifications
- Optional alerts when a monitored device stops answering.
Every permission is optional and can be changed in the system settings at any time. Denying a permission only turns off the related feature.
Children and third parties
HomeNet contains no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs and does not track you. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party content. It remembers your language choice in your browser’s local storage, which never leaves your device. Like any website, its host, Cloudflare, processes visitors’ IP addresses to deliver the pages and keep the site secure.
